HELP SAVE WILD HABITAT

Here’s your chance to help save and restore threatened habitat for elephants, rhinos, lions and other precious species, one acre at a time.

Wild Tomorrow Fund is working to protect, rehabilitate and connect a wildlife corridor between two existing large-scale wildlife reserves in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal region (“Zululand”). The area, if secured has the opportunity to connect an acclaimed regional reserve to a UNESCO world heritage site. It is already home to leopards, hyenas, zebra, wildebeest, hippos and countless other species. A precious river surrounded by fever tree forest, open grasslands, riverine thickets, and mixed woodlands, make it one of the most beautiful and diverse wilderness areas in the region.

In 2017, Wild Tomorrow Fund successfully secured the first 1,235 acres of this land, which we called Ukuwela, and in May 2019 we added an additional 1,171 acres called the Mfuleni Conservancy. In June 2022, we successfully protected the land as a “Nature Reserve” under South Africa’s biodiversity stewardship program, giving it legal protection in perpetuity at the same level as a national park.

While the corridor is now secured and legally protected, there is much to do to rehabilitate its ecosystems and ready it for expansion. This includes erecting Big-5 perimeter fencing, the removal of alien invasive plants by our all-woman Green Mambas team, upgrade ranger camp infrastructure, install solar power, restore our sand forest and more.
